The Cleveland High School library media center serves a population of approximately 450 students in 7th-12th grade and a faculty and staff of approximately 30. The library contains approximately 7000 volumes intended to supply the students with research materials as well as volumes for pleasure reading. The main room of the library contains seating for 30 and is equipped with 4 computer stations. The computers are available for searching the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), Internet use, Accelerated Reader tests, STAR testing, and word processing. An additional room houses equipment, library supplies, and 4 computer stations used by the yearbook staff. Circulation Students are allowed to check out non-fiction and fiction materials for a two-week period. Reference materials may be checked out for five days. Each student may have a total of two items in circulation at a time with exceptions made at the discretion of the library media specialist. Faculty and staff may check out materials with no due date set. Any items not returned (or returned in a damaged condition that requires their removal from the collection) by students must be paid for in the amount of original cost plus an additional replacement charge determined by the library media specialist. Overdue notices will be sent out to students through their Language Arts teachers at least one time during each grading period. All fees for damaged or non returned items must be paid in full before the final report card of the year will be mailed. Rules, Hours, Schedule All students are expected to be quiet while in the library media center so that everyone will be able to study and do research in an environment conducive to learning. The Cleveland High School library media center is open from 7:45 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. everyday that school is in session. Anyone requiring the use of the facility at any other time should contact the library media specialist to make arrangements. The media center has a flexible schedule that allows for unlimited use by small groups at any time. If a faculty member needs to use the facility for an entire class activity they must schedule this block of time with the media specialist to make sure there is not a conflict with other classes.
